Wexcombe 8x10 Windowless Tongue and Groove Apex Security Shed

When the shed holds bikes, power tools or a ride-on mower, keeping it out of sight matters as much as keeping it dry. The Wexcombe has no windows at all, so nobody can see what is inside, and its double doors hang on four heavy T-hinges with a padlock hasp set into the frame. Inside, the 8 x 10 ft floor runs deep from the gable-end doors, with room for two or three bikes along one wall, a workbench at the back and garden machinery in between. The tongue-and-groove walls and felted apex roof keep everything dry year round.

Assembly

Your building arrives as pre-made flat-packed panels: the wall panels, doors and window frames are already assembled, so you fix the panels together, fit the floor and roof, then felt the roof and add the trims. Allow about 5 - 6 hours for two adults. You will need a cordless drill/driver, a hammer, a spirit level, a tape measure, a craft knife for the felt and a step ladder. All fixings, felt and felt nails are included, with step-by-step instructions.

Planning and base

Most garden buildings of this size fall under permitted development in England, but the rules differ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, for listed buildings and conservation areas, and for outbuildings higher than 2.5 m within 2 m of a boundary. Please check with your local planning authority if you are unsure. Every building needs a firm, level base slightly larger than its footprint - paving slabs, a concrete pad or a timber or plastic base system. The base is not included.

Care

This building is dip-treated with a water-based preservative to protect it in transit and for the first months. Apply a good-quality exterior wood preservative or stain within three months of assembly and then once a year, paying extra attention to the cladding ends, door bottoms and corner trims. Check the roof felt every spring and autumn, keep gutters, leaves and soil away from the walls, and leave a small gap between the building and any fence or hedge so air can circulate. A little candle wax or oil on the hinges keeps the doors moving freely.

Delivery and returns

• Free tracked delivery to any address in the United Kingdom, no minimum order value. Your building is delivered flat-packed on a pallet by a tracked pallet courier.
• Kerbside delivery: the driver unloads the packs at the kerbside or the end of your driveway, wherever the vehicle can safely reach; carrying them into the garden is not included. A signature may be needed on delivery. The longest pack for this building is approx. 3.0 m long.
• Order cut-off time: 2:00 PM (UK time). Orders placed by 2:00 PM (UK time), Monday to Friday, start processing the same day; later orders the next day (Monday to Friday).
• Processing: 1 - 2 days (Monday to Friday). Delivery: 2 - 4 days (Monday to Friday). Total 3 - 6 days (Monday to Friday). The courier contacts you to confirm the delivery day.
• 60-day returns for unused, unassembled buildings in their original packaging, in addition to your statutory 14-day right to cancel. For change-of-mind returns you pay the pallet collection, which we quote before booking. Faulty, damaged or incorrect items are always covered under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 and we pay the collection.
