In stock
A square, pressure-treated pent shed for gardens where the shed has to sit low, along a fence line or under a window. Pressure treatment forces the preservative deep into the timber, so the Elmstead is protected against rot and insect attack without the yearly re-treatment a dip-treated shed needs. The square 7 x 7 ft floor gives you more usable space than a long, narrow shed of the same area, and the door and two windows are all on the tall front side, with the roof falling to a lower back wall.
Features
- 7 x 7 ft square floor plan, pent roof with tall front
- Pressure-treated against rot and insect attack - no yearly re-treatment needed
- 12 mm shiplap tongue-and-groove cladding on a 28 x 44 mm frame
- Single door and two fixed front windows with styrene safety glazing
- Black hinges and padlock hasp (padlock not included)
- 11 mm OSB floor and roof with green mineral felt

Assembly
Your building arrives as pre-made flat-packed panels: the wall panels, doors and window frames are already assembled, so you fix the panels together, fit the floor and roof, then felt the roof and add the trims. Allow about 4 - 5 hours for two adults. You will need a cordless drill/driver, a hammer, a spirit level, a tape measure, a craft knife for the felt and a step ladder. All fixings, felt and felt nails are included, with step-by-step instructions.
Planning and base
Most garden buildings of this size fall under permitted development in England, but the rules differ in Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, for listed buildings and conservation areas, and for outbuildings higher than 2.5 m within 2 m of a boundary. Please check with your local planning authority if you are unsure. Every building needs a firm, level base slightly larger than its footprint - paving slabs, a concrete pad or a timber or plastic base system. The base is not included.
Care
The timber is pressure-treated, so it is protected against rot and insect attack without yearly re-treatment. The colour will gradually soften and may weather to silver-grey; you can apply an exterior stain or paint at any time if you prefer a set colour. Check the roof felt every spring and autumn, keep leaves and soil away from the base of the walls, and leave a small gap between the building and any fence or hedge so air can circulate. A little oil on the hinges and lock keeps them working smoothly.
